MOST holds briefing on 2007 International Conference for Bioeconomy

On June 12, the 2007 International Conference for Bioeconomy press release held at Ministry of Science and Technology.Liu Yanhua, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the "International Conference for Bioeconomy" and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, Li Jiajun, Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee and Director of the Tianjin Science and Technology Commission, and Wang Hongguang, Director of the Biotechnology Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, introduced the preparations for the conference and answered reporters' questions. The press conference was chaired by Chi Ji, Deputy Director of the General Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Director Li Jiajun introduced the preparatory work of the conference on behalf of the organizer, he said, Tianjin would try its best to do this conference well, make the Biotech and Bioeco become the brand in Tianjin Binhai New District, and create a Binhai New District with Bioeco as the mainstay.

Wang Hongguang, Director of the Biology Center, answered the reporter's questions and explained the main features of the conference, saying that the conference will present three characteristics: First, the highly organizational level. The conference was hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Tianjin Municipality, and 13 domestic departments and 7 international organizations were invited to co-sponsor. The level of organizational structure is one of the highest in domestic academic conferences. Second, the widely academic scope. The academic seminar part will be divided into 10 sub-venues, including government forums, frontier advances in life sciences, and agricultural biotechnology, and well-known experts in related fields at home and abroad will be invited to conduct academic discussions on the current frontier and hot issues of biotechnology, medical technology and industrial development at home and abroad. Third, there are many exhibitors and high levels. The exhibition venue is determined in Tianjin Binhai International Convention and Exhibition Center, with a total scale of 6,000 square meters.

2007 International Conference for Bioeconomy is composed of 13 departments, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Tianjin Municipal Government, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the State Environmental Protection Administration, the State Forestry Administration, the State Food and Drug Administration, the State Intellectual Property Office, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Ministry of Health of the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army, and the United Nations Development Programme, UNESCO, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Co-sponsored by seven international or regional organizations, including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the World Health Organization and the Council of Europe. The conference is divided into 10 academic chapters and 8 exhibition areas, with a total of 18 units. The convening of this conference will play a positive role in promoting the development of China's biotechnology and industry.
